Market surveillance & Recreational Craft Directive
On the second day of the Genoa Boat Show, the “esPRESSO GENOA” will take place, jointly organized by UCINA and European Boating Industry.
Recreational craft sold in the EU must comply with harmonised technical safety and environmental requirements, and meet the administrative obligations defined by the Recreational Craft Directive. The Commission has harmonised the different EU national legislations for recreational craft and market surveillance authorities in each country are responsible for controlling the products and for taking the appropriate measures. The objective is to protect people from dangerous products but also to ensure a level playing field for businesses. In this context, it is essential that boatbuilders fully understand their responsibility and that the interpretation of the Directive is well understood by both the industry and the competent authorities. Exchanges between competent authorities are essential to ensure a level playing field at regional and European levels.
