2025 has marked a key milestone for TEcoNaut, the EU-funded project supporting implemented by EBI and partners to support the green transition of the sector through skills development and innovation. Throughout the year, project partners have strengthened engagement with industry stakeholders, notably at international events such as boot Düsseldorf and the Palma International Boat Show, while consolidating insights from companies, educators and experts on the skills needed for more sustainable boatbuilding.
At the heart of this progress is the development of TEcoNaut’s flagship course on Sustainable Materials for Boatbuilding, shaped by in-depth research, expert reviews and hands-on collaboration between VET centres, universities and industry. Knowledge transfer and skills-shadowing activities have ensured the training reflects real market needs, paving the way for course piloting and train-the-trainer activities in the next phase. TEcoNaut is now well positioned to turn innovation and collaboration into tangible green skills for Europe’s boating industry.
